Job Overview

Marvin Composites is looking for an Automation & Controls Engineer to join our team in Fargo, ND, where you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our automation projects and maintenance operations. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on plant operations by optimizing automated equipment and ensuring smooth, efficient processes.

As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you will engage in hands-on work, collaborating with cross-functional teams to tackle exciting challenges in automation and controls. You’ll gain valuable experience programming PLCs, diagnosing and repairing equipment, installing custom equipment, and contributing to technology upgrades. This role offers ample growth opportunities, allowing you to advance your expertise while seeing your contributions directly reflected in our production success.

Highlights of your role
  • Upgrade and maintain custom automated machines and equipment, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Maintain and improve performance of equipment by diagnosing, repairing, and replacing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers during equipment builds, assist in system integration, and support projects during design and installation
  • Assess current equipment, troubleshoot issues, and make improvements to existing systems
  • Support operations and maintenance teams with quick, reliable solutions to automation & control issues, ensuring smooth and efficient performance
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
  • PLC programming experience or education preferred
  • Excel at clear, effective communication with diverse teams and individuals, ensuring collaboration and understanding at every level
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and address complex challenges and drive continuous improvement
