Job summary

Interstates is seeking a hands-on Control Systems Developer I based in the Brainerd, MN region. You will design, program, and launch automation solutions for diverse manufacturing clients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to drive impact on operations.

The role requires a degree in engineering (or related) and experience with industrial control software, UI development, and system integration. Travel up to 35% may be involved as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, etc.) or an Associate degree with Instrumentation and Controls emphasis preferred.
• Experience in programming in Industrial Environment and startup of Industrial Control Software.
• Experience with object oriented programming, UI development, databases and system integration.

Responsibilities

• PLC Programming: Develop, test, and implement PLC code for industrial automation systems.
• HMI Development: Design and configure HMI applications for process control and monitoring.
• Project Documentation: Create thorough and accurate project documentation, including system descriptions, operator manuals, and change logs.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients, electrical engineers, control system programmers, and information system specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
• On‑Site Implementation: Commission and launch control systems on-site; provide troubleshooting and operator training.
• Client Interaction: Build lasting relationships by communicating professionally and anticipating needs.
• Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date on industry trends and technologies.
• Other Duties as Assigned: Flex and grow with a supportive team.
