Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Añasco, Puerto Rico, seeks an Automation Specialist Co‑Op to support manufacturing automation in a regulated MedTech setting. The term runs January–December 2027 with a 40-hour work week onsite.

You will assist with PLC/HMI programming, equipment upgrades, testing, and documentation while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman Year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Automation Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering.
• Must remain enrolled at an accredited college or university throughout the Co-Op term.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) from January through December 2027.
• Must be able to work onsite five days per week in Añasco, Puerto Rico.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams).
• Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Assisting with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, industrial communications, computers, and networks.
• Supporting PLC and HMI programming, testing, and documentation activities.
• Assisting with data collection, system backups, reliability assessments, and routine system checks.
• Participating in automation projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
• Preparing technical documentation, reports, procedures, and test records.
• Supporting design reviews, risk assessments, vendor interactions, and cross-functional meetings.
• Collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, IT, and external suppliers.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cybersecurity, data integrity, and regulated-system requirements.
