Job summary

Motoman in Ohio is seeking an assembler to manufacture and test electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies for robotic and factory automation systems. The role interfaces with multiple departments to meet quality, delivery and productivity goals.

You will follow 5S standards, use basic electrical schematics and blueprints, and assist in prototype builds. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 0.5–2 years related experience, with opportunities to travel to customer sites.

  • Vocational-technical training is a plus.
  • Must read electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical blueprints.

Job description

Summary

Manufacture and test electrical/mechanical assemblies for robotic and factory automation systems. Interface with representatives of other departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Adhere to the highest practicable safety/housekeeping standards including an understanding of 5S practices.
  • Build, test, repair electrical and mechanical sub-assembly components as required.
  • Assist in the build of assemblies and systems by providing manufacturing support as schedule dictates.
  • Organize and plan assigned tasks and workflow, using verbal and written communication.
  • Assist in the build of prototype assemblies.
  • Liaise directly with representatives of other departments as required to meet quality, delivery and production goals.
  • Support immediate supervisor (Lead person) in departmental planning and coordination to meet or exceed Yaskawa Motoman's quality, delivery and productivity standards.
  • Utilize and help maintain ISO procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Recommend improvements in quality, on time delivery, and productivity, to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate, during the assembly process, Yaskawa Motoman standard components and special ordered parts for fitness of use. Report discrepancies using Yaskawa Motoman's Quality system.
  • Responsible for the proper usage of all departmental equipment and tools.
  • May be required to travel to customer facilities to assist with installs and start-up systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for usage and disposition of all materials used in production.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Perform collateral duties as assigned, including DCR's, ECR's, and floor stock management.
  • Complete all departmental Technical Training programs, including necessary qualification requirements, and all associated safety training.
  • Assist co-workers with on the job training.
  • Promote teamwork and foster an exemplary working environment. Interact with co-workers in a manner, which enhances employee satisfaction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Appropriate job related education, such as vocational-technical training or equivalent is desired.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must be able to read and understand basic electrical/electronic schematics and diagrams. Must be able to read and understand basic mechanical blueprints. Must be able to apply these technical skills in an effective manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally is exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, etc.). Employees should have basic awareness of hazardous materials cautions. Those directly using the materials must have specific knowledge of material in use.
