Auxis is seeking a Lead Engineer for Automation & AI to own the internal MDM system bridging SAP, various ERPs, and MDG, while leading new automation and AI initiatives. This hands-on role requires architecture, development, and production support across SQL, VBA, and Azure components.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on experience in data or automation engineering.
  • Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills including writing and optimizing stored procedures, views, and complex production queries.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or Microsoft Fabric, including pipeline design, linked services, and triggers.
  • Experience working with or supporting ERP-adjacent data structures (e.g., SAP, various ERPs, or comparable transactional/master-data platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to own and support production systems independently, including troubleshooting live issues.
  • Familiarity with Git for version control and collaborative development.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., VBA, VB.NET, C#, Python).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new automation and process-improvement initiatives from design through go-live, contributing to measurable annual cost savings.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to apply AI-assisted tools and techniques, including generative AI and agentic AI approaches.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Engineering Documentation, Pricing, Sourcing, Marketing, Supply Chain) to prioritize and scope new automation projects.
  • Maintain production-grade code and documentation standards across SQL, VBA, and Azure components.
  • Apply responsible AI and data governance practices to automation and AI initiatives, in alignment with enterprise AI governance and security standards.
  • Define and monitor success metrics for automation and AI initiatives, including cost savings, cycle-time reduction, and system reliability.

Job description

The Lead Engineer for Automation & AI will take ownership of the organization's internal Material Master Data Management (MDM) system bridging SAP, various ERPs, and MDG, while leading new automation and AI initiatives as they arise across the business. This is a hands-on role: the individual will own assigned tools and projects end-to-end, remaining directly engaged in architecture, development, and production support.

Responsibilities:
  • (70 %) Own the business’s internal MDM system in day-to-day operations, architecture, and roadmap, including SQL Server database design, Azure Data Factory / Fabric pipelines, and the Excel/VBA front end.
  • (30%) Lead new automation and process-improvement initiatives from design through go-live, contributing to measurable annual cost savings.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to apply AI-assisted tools and techniques, including generative AI and agentic AI approaches, to accelerate automation development and business process improvement.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance & Accounting, Engineering Documentation, Pricing, Sourcing, Marketing, Supply Chain) to prioritize and scope new automation projects.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data or automation engineering, with demonstrated ability to own complex projects independently.
  • Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills, including writing and optimizing stored procedures, views, and complex production queries.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and/or Microsoft Fabric, including pipeline design, linked services, and triggers.
  • Experience working with or supporting ERP-adjacent data structures (e.g., SAP, various ERPs, or comparable transactional/master-data platforms).

  • Working knowledge of large language model (LLM) integration patterns, such as API-based tool/function calling and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and how they apply to enterprise automation (preferred).
  • Awareness of AI governance, data privacy, and responsible AI practices as applied to production automation and AI systems (preferred).
  • Experience with the broader Azure ecosystem: Logic Apps, Power Automate, Key Vault, Data Lake (preferred).
