Automatic Temperature Controls Manager

Reports to: Director of Special Projects

Supervises: Programmers, Controls Engineers, Sr. Technicians, Technicians and Apprentices.

Job Summary

The responsibilities include preparing/executing ATC system design, submittals, graphics, programming, schedules, labor projections & budgets. Actively participates in establishing and maintains projected sales goals. Supervision/execution of programming & field activities related to, ATC system programming, installation-productivity, start up, testing, commissioning, owner training and misc. other task.

Requirements
  • 10 years of experience with control systems. Prior sales experience required.
  • Able to work Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons, evenings and weekends as needed. Hours may involve start times as early as 5:00 a.m. Specific project requirements that may require afternoon or evening/night shifts.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve conflict professionally with the assistance of management.
  • Communicate effectively in English (aural, verbal, and written).
  • Degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, or other related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Office products, including - but not limited to - Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams.
  • Strong controls programming experience, with excellent knowledge and experience. Preferred: Experience with ASI controls & ABB controls preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automation and controls systems, HVAC systems, gas distribution systems, commercial refrigeration, fire alarm/life safety systems and lighting controls.
  • Strong knowledge of design of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and light industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of building and energy codes as well as energy and commissioning standards.
  • Enforces company and safety policies
  • Responsible for distribution and execution of annual reviews for staff.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, climb, crawl, stoop; be exposed to heights as well as tight/confined spaces; work in dusty areas; work in temperature extremes; be exposed to external elements (wind, rain, snow, etc.) Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engineer and design ATC projects in compliance with project narratives, specifications and contract documents.
  • Create ATC Submittals per contract documents for projects.
  • Estimate project costs (equipment, materials, subcontractors and labor).
  • Assist project billing
  • Review, analyze and participate in ATC financial reviews and sales goals as requested and required.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of the project - provide technical support for installation to our PM, field, and subcontractors
  • Check work of others, including performing commissioning, owner training, troubleshooting and customer acceptance
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Initiate sales calls to prospective clients, including 'cold calling' and/or impromptu visits.
  • Meets with and presents proposals and/or 'fixes' to executives, owners, tenants, engineers, facilities managers, etc.
  • Manage projects from conceptualization to completion, dealing with competing priorities such as cost, quality, and time pressures.
  • Check submittals against specifications.
  • Develop programming per specified sequence of operation.
  • Create graphics and map ATC points
  • Abide by and Enforce OSHA and S&D's Safety policies, including ensuring timely reporting of injuries and accidents.
  • Maintains and protects confidential information, including cost data.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor in order to meet the One Team/One Vision goal.
  • Attend team meetings as scheduled and required.
  • Assist Service, Special Projects, Construction and Engineering Team with troubleshooting of ATC and Building Automation System related issues for various systems installed by controls subcontractors such as JCI, Siemens, ESI etc.
  • Assist Service, Special Projects, Construction and Engineering Team with troubleshooting of HVACR and Equipment related issues that are complicated and out of the ordinary.
  • Provide consultation to Engineering on the ATC portion of projects undertaken by the Company.
  • Communicate with field staff regularly for manpower requirements and relative scopes of expected performance until project completion.
  • Communicate with the Director of Special Projects for engineering assistance and requirements.
  • Work with PM to maintain budgets for ATC Programming, installation, startup, and commissioning and update reports/schedules regarding job status, scheduling staffing and client satisfaction for each project. Update budget monthly with management team.
  • Update labor projection schedule as required with necessary team members.
  • Ensure timely installations and start-up of ATC System. Providing technical assistance as necessary.
  • Ensure that technicians and apprentices are filling out daily site checklist for each project daily
  • Attend commissioning meetings as required.
  • Ensure that HVAC staff properly fills out the start up checklist, pre-functional checklist, system readiness checklist etc.
  • Review technical portion of Operation and Maintenance Manuals to develop Owners training curricula. The Project Coordinator will provide the administrative support to assemble this documentation.
  • Cover Owners Training Sessions as required.
