Job summary

Electroswitch Machine Corporation seeks an experienced Automatic Screw Machine Setup Operator for its Rockland manufacturing operation. This role performs complete setups, operates Brown & Sharpe screw machines, and troubleshoots to manufacture high-volume precision components.

You will review schedules, set up tooling, and ensure in-process quality through precise measurement and documentation. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of setup/operating experience on Brown & Sharpe machines,

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical school training required.
• Five or more years of automatic screw machine setup and operating experience preferred.
• Experience performing complete setups on Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, and dimensional specifications.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, ring gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
• Experience sharpening drills and form tools and operating a surface grinder.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete setups and operate Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines to manufacture precision components according to blueprints and production specifications.
• Select and install cams, turret tooling, collet dogs, spindle-speed gears, and other machine components required for each job.
• Set up thread rollers and operate LIPE automatic bar-feed equipment.
• Review production schedules, work orders, and Kanban cards to determine job priorities and machine requirements.
• Maintain and sharpen form tools, cutoff tools, drills, and other tooling as required.
• Produce and inspect first-piece samples before beginning production runs.
• Conduct in-process inspections throughout the production run to ensure components remain within blueprint tolerances.
• Move completed parts to the next designated operation or work center.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Operate CNC or manual machining equipment when required and appropriately trained.

Position SummaryElectroswitch Machine Corporation is seeking an experienced Automatic Screw Machine Setup Operator for its Rockland manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for performing complete setups, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and making routine repairs to Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines used to manufacture high-volume precision components.The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with Brown & Sharpe machines, tooling selection, precision measurement, blueprint interpretation, and in-process inspection.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform complete setups and operate Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines to manufacture precision components according to blueprints and production specifications.Select and install the appropriate cams, turret tooling, collet dogs, spindle-speed gears, and other machine components required for each job.Set up thread rollers and operate LIPE automatic bar-feed equipment.Review production schedules, work orders, and Kanban cards to determine job priorities and machine requirements.Select and verify the correct bar stock according to the shop order and material specifications.Maintain and sharpen form tools, cutoff tools, drills, and other tooling as required.Produce and inspect first-piece samples before beginning production runs.Conduct in-process inspections throughout the production run to ensure components remain within blueprint tolerances.Use comparators, dial calipers, micrometers, thread micrometers, thread gauges, ring gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.Complete setup documentation, inspection records, and statistical process control data accurately.Monitor machine performance, diagnose operating problems, and make adjustments or routine repairs to maintain quality and productivity.Move completed parts to the next designated operation or work center.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.Follow all company safety, quality, environmental, and hazardous-waste-handling procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.Additional ResponsibilitiesOperate CNC or manual machining equipment when required and appropriately trained.Assist other operators with machine setup, tooling, troubleshooting, or inspection as needed.QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical school training required.Five or more years of automatic screw machine setup and operating experience preferred.Demonstrated experience performing complete setups on Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines strongly preferred.Working knowledge of cams, turret tooling, collets, spindle gearing, thread rolling, and automatic bar-feed systems.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop orders, and dimensional specifications.Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, ring gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.Experience sharpening drills and form tools and operating a surface grinder.Ability to troubleshoot machine, tooling, and part-quality problems.Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.Ability to work independently and manage multiple production priorities.Preferred QualificationsVocational or technical training in machining, toolmaking, or manufacturing technology.Experience with LIPE automatic bar feeds.Experience working with SPC documentation and Kanban-based production systems.Experience operating related CNC or manual machining equipment.
