Job summary

Edelbrock Group is seeking a Setup Technician to operate, monitor, and optimize ACME screw machines for precision components. You will load bar stock, run cycles, inspect parts with gauges, and report defects to maintain quality and efficiency.

The role requires reading blueprints, using calipers and micrometers, and making minor process adjustments while adhering to 5S and safety standards on a team-oriented shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Previous ACME screw machine experience required.
  • Dependable and detail-oriented.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Load raw materials (bar stock) and monitor machine cycles for proper operation.
  • Perform in-process inspections using gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
  • Maintain production output while ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Identify and report defects, machine issues, or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Make minor adjustments (feeds, speeds, offsets) to maintain part quality.
  • Maintain accurate production, scrap, and downtime reporting.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and machine guarding.
  • Keep work area clean and organized in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Set up ACME screw machines for production runs using blueprints and work instructions.
  • Install and align tooling, cams, inserts, and attachments.
  • Adjust machine timing, feeds, and speeds for optimal performance.
  • Perform first-piece inspections and make necessary adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot machining and setup issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
  • Work closely with operators to ensure a smooth transition to production.
  • Train operators on machine operation and quality standards.
  • Maintain tool inventory and support tool life management.
  • Document setups for consistency and repeatability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (cycle time and scrap reduction)
