Job description

Overview

Steampunk is looking for you to join our team as a Automated Test Engineer. You'll implement automation for increased efficiency and provide hands-on testing and QA expertise in mission-critical work across our client base.

Contributions

As a Automated Test Engineer, you will work with our growing DevSecOps practice delivering quality assurance services to support application, cloud, and data systems development. Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding the needs of stakeholders and conveying this to developers
  • Meeting with the product design team to determine testing parameters
  • Writing test plans, creating test cases, test procedures, bug reports, and final QA reports for products
  • Managing test data architecture definition and requests
  • Troubleshooting errors and streamlining the test procedures
  • Testing and examining code written by others and analyzing results, including three or more of the following:
    • Data validation testing
    • Functional testing
    • Performance and load testing
    • Usability testing
    • Accessibility (508) testing
  • Establishing automated testing tools and infrastructure for test automation
  • Providing validation testing of different system and data sets for cloud migrations
  • Developing automated testing scripts considering parallelization and idempotency
  • Automating and improving development, testing, deployment, and release processes
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
  • Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Documenting the as-is state of the environment, performing a gap analysis, and producing artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
  • Leveraging virtualization and containerization to optimize testing software systems
  • Working with teams to bring continuous improvement to DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Engineering and implementing solutions and providing recommendations for continuous improvement for the services provided
  • Presenting regular status updates and providing cross-training to other DevSecOps team members
  • Acting as an individual contributor and mentoring more junior team members
Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance
  • BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years related IT experience
  • 5 years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket
  • 5 years of experience with one or more programming or scripting languages
  • 5 years of application DevSecOps experience with actual/active development experience in an Agile environment
  • Experience utilizing Docker containers and utilizing platforms such as Kubernetes
  • 5 years of experience implementing test automation, using tools such as Selenium, Appium, Soap UI, RestAssured, Postman
  • Experience integrating test automation including performance, security, and functional tests into CI/CD Pipelines
  • Experience with performance and load testing
  • Experience in one or more cloud computing environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Preferred:

  • Certifications:
    • CAST (Certified Associate in Software Testing)
    • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Experience with documenting the as-is state of the environment, performing a gap analysis, and producing artifacts that articulate options and recommendations
About Steampunk

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $130,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
