AUTOMATED SYSTEMS EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN I - OAHU CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES

Location: Halawa Correctional Facility, Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

Job Summary: Journey worker level responsible for independently performing the full range of technical work in the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic and electromechanical automated systems and associated equipment under general supervision; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Legal Authorization to Work: Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
  • Specialized Experience:
    • TWO (2) and ONE-HALF (1/2) YEARS of work experience in testing, maintaining and repairing a variety of electronic and electromechanical equipment.
    • At least SIX (6) MONTHS of this experience must be at the fully proficient, independent diagnostic and repair worker level.
  • Substitution Allowed: Technical training in electronics at an accredited institute or community college above the high school level may be substituted for the Specialized Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours for six (6) months of experience, up to a maximum of two years.
  • Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement:
    • Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility or other institution.
    • Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse.
    • Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in #2 above.
    • Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
