Role Description

This full-time Automated Gate Technician role is a hybrid position based in Forest Lake, MN, with some work-from-home tasks acceptable as project needs allow. The technician will install, configure, and maintain automated gate systems, including mechanical components, access control devices, and related electrical or low-voltage equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include troubleshooting system issues, performing routine inspections, completing preventive maintenance, and documenting all work performed in a clear and timely manner. The role involves traveling to customer sites, coordinating with project managers and other team members, providing onsite customer support and training on system use, and ensuring all installations comply with safety standards and company guidelines. The technician will also assist with remote diagnostics, participate in continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and customer-focused work environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical skills in mechanical repair, basic electrical or low-voltage work, and installation of automated gates or related access control systems.


• Experience with troubleshooting hardware and software issues, using diagnostic tools, and following technical diagrams or schematics.


• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally to clients and colleagues.


• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a field service team, managing time effectively and prioritizing multiple service calls.


• Commitment to safety practices, adherence to company policies, and careful use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to customer sites in the Forest Lake, MN area and surrounding regions.


• Comfort with basic digital tools, such as mobile apps, service ticket systems, and email, for documentation and communication.


• Previous experience in security systems, gate automation, or commercial access control is preferred but not required; relevant vocational training or certifications are a plus.


• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as lifting equipment, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and standing or walking for extended periods.
