Job summary

Ysleta Independent School District seeks an experienced technician to perform preventive and emergency maintenance on electronic controls for air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Qualifications

Job description

Perform preventive and emergency maintenance of electronic controls for various refrigeration systems, air conditioning units, auxiliary equipment and related plumbing equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures. Tasks are diverse and occasionally require individual analysis and judgment. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential Functions

• Perform installation, preventive, emergency, and routine maintenance of various electronic controls for air conditioning and large refrigeration systems, to include various types of heating boilers, ventilations, and related auxiliary electrical mechanical and plumbing equipment; prioritize tasks to allow for problems or emergency situations; refer problems that cannot be solved to immediate supervisor.
• Analyze, program, maintain, and repair various types of energy management systems to include working with energy management software and hardware, such as building control units and contactors, as well as monitor water treatment of large four pipe systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and working drawings; prepare accurate materials lists; perform field layouts.
• Oversee new installation conducted by third party vendors.
• Supervise, train, and delegate tasks to assigned personnel responsible for electronic controls for air conditioning electrical, electronic plumbing and refrigeration systems. Train assigned personnel on the safe use of equipment, tools and batteries, as needed.
• Inspect and service equipment, as necessary, to maintain proper operating and safety requirements.
• Be responsible for vehicle and vehicle inventory, if assigned, as well as any materials, tools and equipment required, including making any adjustments needed, as well as use safe operating procedures; request scheduling of required maintenance and inspections and keep vehicle, tools, equipment and work areas clean and orderly.
• Cooperate with other co-workers and routinely report necessary information to the immediate supervisor.
• Monitor maintenance equipment remotely and communicate information through the appropriate channels. Be able and willing to receive email and text messages and respond accordingly and in a timely manner.
• Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED). Three (3) years of verifiable experience installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining energy management systems controls for large four-pipe air conditioning and refrigeration systems, computerized preventive maintenance programs in electrical, electronic, heating and cooling, plumbing and finishes. Completion of an HVAC course from an accredited trades school or community college preferred. Must possess a valid Texas or New Mexico driver's license; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier. Subject to the YISD drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent District-wide travel. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently. Work under all weather conditions and loud noise. Be adaptable to work varying shifts/schedules/hours as needed. Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, heavy lifting and carrying. Be exposed to insects or other potentially hazardous materials.
