Job summary

Viracon LLC is seeking a night-shift Autoclave Technician to operate autoclave equipment, monitor cycles, and manage boiler-related tasks. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to production schedules for glass processing.

The technician will perform daily chemical tests, load preparation, and crane operations while maintaining records and supporting continuous improvement efforts. Training and licensing are required for boiler operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Forklift license required.
• Boiler license 2A or 2B required.
• Ability to read, write and understand work instructions (English).
• Mathematical skills related to measurements.
• Familiar with operating power tools.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Must be able to safely perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare racks of glass units for loading into autoclave as indicated on production schedules and instructions.
• Balance and tie down rack loads as necessary.
• Operate overhead crane and assist with loading/unloading racks into autoclave.
• Close autoclave and start operating cycle per procedures.
• Monitor pressure and temperature during cycles.
• Maintain a Boiler License.
• Conduct daily chemical tests such as water hardness and scale content.
• Adhere to safety protocols and business process documents.
• Support continuous improvement by monitoring team performance and implementing process improvements.
• Keep records and logs of department activities.
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and good inter-department relations.
• May perform similar or related duties as instructed.

Job description

Overview

Viracon LLC. Shift: Nights. Pay: Dependent on licencing type. LG: 6 or Merit 7 depending on licensing. Operates the Autoclave equipment in processing glass products and operates and maintains boilers on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepares racks of glass units for loading into autoclave as indicated on production schedules and instructions.
• Balances and ties down rack load, as necessary.
• Operates overhead crane and helps manipulate rack loading into autoclave and for unloading after processing.
• Close autoclave and starts operating cycle in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitors pressure and temperature settings during operating cycle.
• Maintains a Specials Boilers License.
• Conducts chemical tests daily such as water hardness, chemical content, and scale content.
• Performs duties in a safe manner using all approved safety equipment as instructed.
• Performs duties in accordance with the Business Process Documentation.
• Participates in Viracon’s Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team’s performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred but not required.
• Forklift License.
• Boiler License 2A or 2B

• Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
• Must be able to safely perform essential job functions.
• Regular full-time attendance.

Additional Qualifications For Autoclave Technician

• 3 – 6 months after hire date must pass the Boilers License 2A or 2B exam
