Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for an Autoclave Technician and Collection/Delivery Driver. Based in the Sterile Services department, the role ensures decontamination, sterilisation and safe delivery of reusable medical devices to hospital departments.

A clean driving licence is required, with duties covering loading, unloading and transporting items between Trust facilities.

The Sterile Services Autoclave Technician and Collection/ Delivery Driver plays a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring that reusable medical devices and surgical instruments are decontaminated, sterilised, and delivered safely to healthcare departments.

Working within Sterile Services, the postholder is responsible for offloading and loading items in the autoclave and LTS , maintaining quality standards, and transporting sterile and contaminated medical equipment between healthcare facilities in accordance with infection prevention, health and safety, and transportation regulations.

A clean driving license is required for this post.

Duties of this role will include:

• Offload and Load Items in the Autoclave and LTS
• Provide logistics and Operational Planning on delivery and collection of surgica devices in a safe responsible manner driving to and from the hospital building
• Load and unload trolleys into a Trust vehicle
• Load and unload trolleys in and out of autoclaves
• To distribute and collect sterile products as well as contaminated surgical devices across the Trust

The working hours are: A six week shift pattern consisting of early and late shifts 8 am to 6 pm and 11 am to 9 pm Monday to Friday. One in three weekends working 9 am to 7 pm.
