Job summary

Clean Harbors in Santa Ana, CA is hiring entry-level Facility Technicians to perform labor, material handling, waste processing, and facility support in a fast-paced industrial setting. You will work with hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams while following safety and environmental procedures.

This role offers a first shift (4:00 AM - 12:30 PM) with potential overtime and a starting hourly wage of $25. After six months, pay increases to $27/hour.

• Inspect containers and work areas to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Operate equipment and tools as trained and authorized.
• Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
• Assist with facility operations and general labor tasks.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Follow OSHA, DOT, EPA and site safety requirements.
• Use appropriate PPE during duties.
• Work safely in an industrial environment with odors and waste.

This position is responsible for performing a variety of labor, material handling, waste processing, and facility support duties in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will work with both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams while maintaining compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Work Schedule: 1st Shift (4:00 AM - 12:30 PM)

Overtime opportunities may be available based on business needs; however, overtime is not guaranteed.

Hourly Wage: $25.00/HR starting pay

• Pay increased to $27.00/HR after 6 months of employment
• 1st shift - (4 AM - 12:30 PM)
• After 6 months, Pay will be raised to $27.00 an hour

Working Environment

• This position is based at a medical waste treatment facility. Employees will work in an industrial environment where medical waste is received, processed, and handled in accordance with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
• Due to the nature of the work, the facility can be odorous, and employees should be comfortable working in this environment.
• To work in designated processing areas, employees are required to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination as part of the onboarding process. The vaccination is provided by the company in accordance with applicable health and safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle, sort, move, and process hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials
• Perform waste container handling, staging, labeling, and inventory activities
• Load and unload materials and containers in accordance with company procedures
• Inspect containers and work areas to ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements
• Operate equipment and tools as trained and authorized
• Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the facility
• Assist with facility operations and general labor activities as assigned
• Lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials, containers, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and site-specific safety requirements
• Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties
• Work safely in an industrial environment with exposure to strong odors and waste materials

Preferred

• Previous medical waste processing and/or autoclave experience is a BIG plus - we'd love to hear from you!
• Prior warehouse, manufacturing, environmental services, waste management, medical waste, or industrial labor experience
• Forklift or material handling equipment experience
• Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment
