Job summary

Constellis is seeking an Automotive Technician II in our Los Angeles service center to repair, overhaul, and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment.

The role requires performing skilled repairs on gasoline-powered equipment, inspections, diagnostic work, and adherence to safety standards. You will work in a busy shop, sometimes covering other sites, with shifts from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, and occasional extended hours in inclement conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/Technical training in automotive repair with 5 years of experience, or equivalent.
• Must have valid California driver's license.
• ASE A5 certification preferred; Master certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance on gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment, including bearings, seals, brakes, and rotors.
• Disassemble components and inspect for wear.
• Repair, overhaul, replace, and rebuild pumps, A/C components, compressors, radiators.
• Rewire electrical systems and replace brakes/suspension parts.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions across all systems; tune diesels.
• Maintain hydraulic systems and check for leaks.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and fluid checks.
• Provide coverage at other shops in the zone as needed.
• Work in a busy service center environment with potential exposure to weather and hazards; wear PPE as required.
• Typical shifts: Mon-Fri 6:00 am–2:30 pm or 2:00 pm–10:30 pm; occasional extended or weekend hours.

Job description

Position Summary

The Automotive Technician II will repair, overhaul, and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment.

Pay Range: $22.00 - $29.00

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled repair and maintenance on a variety of gasoline-powered equipment and vehicles such as replacing bearings, axle seals, brake master cylinders, resurfacing brake drums and rotors


• Disassemble components and inspect part for wear


• Repair, overhaul, replace and rebuild water and fuel pumps, air conditioning components, compressors, radiators, etc.


• Rewire electrical systems


• Replace, realign, and adjust brakes and suspension components


• Diagnose and repair malfunctions to all systems


• Tune and perform repairs to diesel engines


• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems; routes and replaces lies and checks system for leak


• Perform routine vehicle equipment preventative maintenance inspections; checking and replacing fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, and replaces exhaust system components


• Temporarily covering at another shop in your zone at certain times per year (for sick leaves, holidays, vacations, etc.)


• Work is typically based in a busy service center/maintenance garage environment and subject to frequent interruptions.Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are in two shifts, Monday-Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or Monday-Friday 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required


• Vocational/Technical training in automotive repair with 5 years of automotive repair experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities


• Must have a valid California Driver's License


• ASE A5 certification preferred


• ASE Master Automotive Technician and/or Master Medium/Heavy Truck Technician preferred


• Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization


• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion


• Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process


• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment


• Must be able to lift, lower, carry, push or move objects up to 75lbs. Various tasks may require intermittent standing or prolonged sitting, and the ability to walk, reach, kneel, crouch and handle work related supplies and tools.
