Summary:
Performs diagnostic and repair processes on customer and internal CarMax vehicles, following prescribed policies and procedures, under general supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service before, during, and after repairs, aligned with CarMax's 'Voice of Customer' processes.
- Locate, use, and control replacement parts and supply inventories.
- Use and control tools and equipment effectively.
- Perform mechanical and cosmetic repairs, including diagnosis of all vehicle systems.
- Follow CarMax standardized work rules.
- Inspect vehicles according to CarMax Quality Standards.
- Complete required state inspections.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness following CarMax 5S standards.
- Review repair orders for accuracy in labor, parts, and documentation for billing.
- Manage service payments and use proprietary and universal software systems like CarMax Electronic Repair Order and Mitchell.
- Provide leadership and support to other associates, including vehicle assessment, prepping, receiving, and transferring.
Job Requirements:
- Complete New Associate Orientation and Kronos Training.
- Maintain current Refrigerant Recycling License.
- Possess ASE Certifications in Steering and Suspension (A4) and Brakes (A5), if required by law.
- Read, interpret, and transcribe data accurately.
- Perform duties in a fast-paced environment, lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
- Communicate effectively with customers and associates.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Comply with OSHA, EPA, and CarMax policies, including PPE use and waste disposal.
Working Conditions:
- Combination of office, shop, and outdoor environments, possibly noisy or inclement weather.
- Extended periods of walking or standing.
- Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Wearing CarMax clothing at all times in the store.
