Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking a General Manager in the Virginia region. The role leads store operations, drives sales, and builds Professional Customer relationships while managing a team of 10–20 associates in a dynamic retail environment.

The GM will supervise hiring, training, scheduling, and performance, ensure inventory controls, and deliver DIY and professional services. Expect a demanding schedule with potential weekends and evenings, and opportunities for commission-based incentives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Speak and write English; Spanish a plus.
• ASE certification preferred, but not required.
• 2–3 years of experience managing a team of 10–20 in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; PowerPoint preferred.

Responsibilities

• Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives.
• Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including coaching the team to execute Customer action plans.
• Hire, develop, coach, schedule and engage store Team Members.
• Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards.
• Coach Team Members to meet Customer expectations (DIY and Professional).
• On-duty responsibilities including safety, task assignment and completion.
• Lead change management and foster a diverse, respectful environment.
• Provide DIY services (battery installation, testing, wiper install).
• Support District/Region in other functions as needed.
