Job summary

Replacement Parts, Inc. is seeking a Paint Counter Salesperson to provide over-the-counter sales of automotive paint and related supplies.

You will take orders in-person and by phone, mix paint, pull parts, and ensure accurate invoicing while supporting store operations and promotional programs. The role emphasizes customer service, knowledge of paint formulas, and teamwork to help the Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts family meet sales goals.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED.
  • At least one year of professional automotive parts experience or two years of hobbyist automotive parts experience.

  • Research parts and paint availability through computer and catalogs for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing.
  • Mix paint for customers, pull parts orders, check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions; properly invoice/credit customer accounts.

Job description

The Paint Counter Salesperson provides over-the-counter direct sales to customers, takes orders in-person and by phone, and supports the overall success of the Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts store operations through promotion of sales programs and other customer and team-related activities. Sales activities focus on the sale of automotive paint, industrial paint, paint supplies and equipment aftermarket which may also include automotive replacement parts.

Today, Replacement Parts, Inc. and Crow Burlingame is made up of a corporate staff and several different companies, including Parts Warehouse Inc. (PWI). We employ more than 1,400 employees, in twelve (12) states, working at approximately 220 locations, all operating in the aftermarket automotive parts, paint and heavy‑duty parts business. In 2019, our company celebrated 100 years of serving our communities as a privately held business with most of our employees spending the majority of their working lives as part of the "Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts" family.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service including assisting in determining parts and/or paint needed, processing paint formulas utilizing the computer, mixing paint, offering options to solve customer problems, and diffusing situations involving an upset or dissatisfied customer.
  • Research parts and paint availability through computer and catalogs for stock numbers, inventory status, and pricing.
  • Mix paint for customers, pull parts orders, check in, put up, straighten, dust, and rearrange stock as needed.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions; properly invoice/credit customer accounts.
  • Prioritize the order of delivery items and assign deliveries to drivers, if applicable.
  • Correctly handle new and defective core returns from customers, insure proper customer credit and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Work home store inventory/assist in other location’s inventory, if assigned.
  • Cooperate and coordinate well with coworkers and as a team member.
  • Perform job duties in compliance with legal, regulatory, and Company safety guidelines, practices and policies.
  • Open and/or close the store if given key holder responsibility.
  • Clean (pick-up trash, sweep, mop, etc.) and maintain inside and outside of building area.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent experience or motivation to pursue a GED; at least one year of professional automotive parts experience or two years of hobbyist automotive parts experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer knowledge including web browsing and knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver's license (Class E required for all Missouri locations) and clean driving record. ASE certifications preferred.
