Responsibilities

  • Sells parts at retail to all customers over the counter, through the shop, or on the phone.
  • Pulls purchases from stock.
  • Determines availability of parts not in stock and submits emergency orders if requested by the customer.
  • Answers phone calls, providing price quotes and other information. Assists outside sales representatives with their orders.
  • Sets up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick up.
  • Verifies will call and back order files weekly, returning to vendors or stocking items not required.
  • Assists service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
  • Orders parts not in stock after discussion with ASM if they are needed and will be used upon receipt or that the customer will return for required repairs.
  • Notifies ASM and the customer when ordered parts have been received.
  • Answers parts phones when front counter is overloaded.
  • Ensures that before parts can be charged out, the Technician presents a repair order.
  • Provides friendly, professional, and efficient service to all customers, both on the phone and in person.
  • Provides the same high level of service to the other dealership departments as is given to other customers.
  • Issues credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice or its number is available for purchase and pricing verification; exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager or Business Manager.
  • Ensures that all charge back sales are signed by the customer.
  • When making tax exempt sales, ensures that the customer\'s full name, address, ICC number, and signature are obtained.
  • Presents the customer with a copy of the invoice. For regular cash customers, records their cash account numbers for proper customer tracking.
  • When a credit card is declined, notifies the credit department; if not available, either declines to charge the purchase or releases the credit hold according to dealership guidelines.
  • Keeps front and rear counter areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Replenishes assigned inventory daily and advises Parts Manager when areas of the department are not in satisfactory condition.
  • Stays current on new products and product updates.
  • Participates in all training programs that are available.
  • Participates with the Parts Manager in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program.
  • Cleans computer terminals and printers daily.
  • Must be legally and technically able to operate company and customer vehicles.
  • Must be insurable by company insurance carrier.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.
