West Point Automotive is looking to hire a Auto Mechanic.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Vehicle Inspections and Diagnostics:

    • Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and other issues.
    • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems and generate repair recommendations.
    • Interpret diagnostic codes and computer-generated reports.
  2. Repairs and Maintenance:

    • Perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical repairs, including engine repairs, transmission work, brake servicing, suspension repairs, and more.
    • Replace worn or damaged parts, such as belts, hoses, brakes, and filters.
    • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
  3. Parts Replacement:

    • Identify and source the correct parts and components needed for repairs.
    • Replace and install parts following manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
    • Ensure proper fit, alignment, and functionality of all replaced parts.
  4. Electrical and Electronic Systems:

    • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems, including wiring, sensors, and ignition systems.
    • Address issues related to the vehicle's lighting, computer systems, and accessories.
  5. Customer Communication:

    • Interact with customers to discuss repair options, explain necessary repairs, and provide cost estimates.
    • Provide clear and understandable explanations of complex technical issues.
    • Keep customers informed about repair progress and completion times.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of all services performed, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings.
    • Complete service reports and invoices accurately.
  7. Quality Control:

    • Ensure that all repair and maintenance work meets industry standards and safety regulations.
    • Conduct quality control checks on completed work to verify accuracy and customer readiness.
  8. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow safety protocols and guidelines when working with vehicles and equipment.
    • Adhere to environmental regulations for proper disposal of hazardous materials.
  9. Training and Development:

    • Participate in ongoing training to stay current with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
    • Mentor and train apprentice technicians as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an automotive technician training program is preferred.
  • Relevant automotive certification, such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence), is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic or Automotive Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy vehicle components.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
