Job summary

Wall Township is seeking a full-time Department of Public Works Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical systems on light to heavy trucks and equipment. The candidate must have a four-year high school diploma or GED with vocational automotive training, OEM certifications, and a valid NJ driver’s license plus CDL.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or GED and formal automotive vocational training.
• Accredited OEM certifications to be achieved and updated regularly.
• At least four years’ experience in skilled automotive or medium/heavy truck work.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license and a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Driving record acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance of equipment and vehicles including diesel, gasoline, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs; maintain records of service.
• Use diagnostic equipment and test-drive vehicles to ensure proper operation.
• Respond to emergencies and after-hours calls as essential personnel.
• Operate and handle multiple types of heavy equipment and machinery safely.
