Job summary

Pep Boys is seeking a General Service Technician to perform basic automotive services such as tire mounting/balancing, oil changes, inspections, and related tasks while ensuring a great customer experience. You will also help keep the tire and service area clean and safe, and may advise customers on services recommended or required for their vehicle.

Responsibilities include learning to diagnose and repair brakes, alignments, suspensions, and electrical systems, and supporting fellow technicians

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Willingness to work days, nights, holidays and weekends as needed.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

• Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive problems including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling and electrical.
• Stay updated with automotive technology through formal training sessions.
• Change engine oil and filter.
• Install and perform tire maintenance.
• Install batteries and check starting/charging systems.
• Install headlights and other small bulbs.
• Repair flat tires.
• Install wiper blades.
• Stock and unload tires.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical activities.
• Inform management of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Keep shop clean and organized.
• Adhere to company policies, safety and environmental rules.
