Position Summary

The General Service Technician must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to perform basic automotive services including mounting and balancing tires, tire repairs, oil changes, vehicle inspections, and other less technical services while delivering an excellent customer experience. They are responsible for maintaining clean and safe work areas in the tire and service department. The technician may also provide advice to and sell customers on automotive services and repairs that are recommended or required for their vehicle.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Learn to diagnose and repair basic automotive systems including brakes, alignments, suspensions, cooling, and electrical components.
• Continuously update technical knowledge through formal training to keep up with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Change engine oil and filters.
• Perform tire maintenance and repair flat tires.
• Install and check batteries, headlights, and other small bulbs.
• Assist in stocking and unloading tires.
• Support fellow technicians in technical activities.
• Report mechanical repair issues to management.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe shop environment.
• Follow all company policies, safety, and environmental rules.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Valid driver's license.

• Availability to work flexible hours including days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical requirements include extensive standing, walking, pushing, reaching, bending, stooping, repetitive hand and arm movements, and the ability to lift heavy equipment (>100 pounds). Work may be performed outdoors with exposure to weather, chemicals, odors, dirt, and dust. Vision and hearing abilities must meet job requirements. The noise level is typically moderate.
