We are seeking an Auto/Diesel Mechanic for a maintenance position in St. Gabriel, LA. Non-exempt role; Reports to Direct Supervisor / Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures / work is checked frequently.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in light and heavy mechanics
  • ASME certified preferred
  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated mechanical expertise and the ability to work independently while supporting the broader maintenance team
  • General gasoline and diesel engine knowledge
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment
  • Organizational skills are a must
  • Ability to prioritize and work self-directed and alone at times
  • Technical training and/or industrial related safety experience
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation - DISA background check and drug screen
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace

Functional Requirements:

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various automotive and heavy equipment; serve as primary resource for electrical cart maintenance; perform trike maintenance and repairs; handle light diesel forklift maintenance including oil changes and minor repairs; collaborate with Eastman mechanics and millwrights during downtime; assist with equipment repairs including pumps and PSV removal/installation; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction


Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
