The Diesel Mechanic will have thorough knowledge of industry-standard work practices for gasoline and diesel-powered automobiles, hybrid electric vehicles, trucks, aerial lifts, construction equipment, tools, and generators to ensure safe and reliable operation of EPB fleet. The Auto Mechanic should be familiar with all aspects of EPB vehicle operation and major component functions.

Shift and Qualifications
  • 2nd Shift - 4 PM to 12:30 AM
  • Must have CLASS A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements

Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and braking systems.
  2. Fabricate components using saws and iron work.
  3. Weld using MIG, TIG, Arc, and acetylene processes.
  4. Perform repairs at remote locations.
  5. Follow safety rules and maintain tools and equipment.
  6. Complete preventive maintenance, upgrades, and corrosion control.
  7. Repair vehicle deficiencies, overhauls, and system adjustments.
  8. Test drive vehicles and verify performance.
  9. Ensure compliance with vehicle standards and maintain appearance.
  10. Record services and repairs accurately.
  11. Maintain shop equipment and inventory supplies.
  12. Participate in educational opportunities to update knowledge.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

At least a one-year certificate in automotive or maintenance from a college or technical school, or 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements; ability to obtain within 90 days if necessary.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • Proper tools and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
