Job summary

Century-Furniture is seeking an On-site Fabric Cutter Operator to run the Automated Fabric Cutter and support the cutting room. You will load, align, and cut fabric according to the schedule, verify tickets, and coordinate with CAD/production teams to minimize waste and maintain quality.

The role requires basic computer skills, the ability to read a ruler, and a willingness to perform preventive maintenance. You must work safely in a busy, noisy environment on 12-hour rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Must read a ruler and take precise measurements.
• Previous experience operating cutting machinery is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic software or hardware issues.
• Strong attention to quality to minimize fabric waste.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Automated Fabric Cutter to maximize productivity.
• Pull and load materials according to the production schedule.
• Verify fabric tickets and notes before cutting; check special instructions.
• Perform daily cleaning and preventive maintenance on the cutter.
• Report software/hardware issues and supply needs to the supervisor.
• Meet unit production goals while ensuring fabric yields.

Position SummaryThis position is responsible for operating the Auto Cutting machine.Essential DutiesOperate the Automated Fabric Cutter for maximum productivity, trouble-shooting any technical problems encounteredPull and load materials to be cut according to the schedule dateIf fabric is being cut, verify fabric number against tickets to be cutVerify tickets for special instructions that would prohibit the use of a standard program on the Automated Fabric CutterUse of proper procedures to avoid defective areas on fabric to insure quality standardsClean and perform preventive maintenance on the Automated Fabric Cutter dailyNotify the Supervisor of any problems encountered with the software, hardware, or cutting standards, as well as any supplies or materials neededWork with CAD Room Technicians on problems encountered with marker layoutsMeet cutting room unit goals, minimizing repairs and maintaining acceptable fabric yieldsResponsible for all aspects of the Automated Fabric Cutter machine to include operating, bundling, and maintenanceCarry out additional duties as assigned by the SupervisorWork safely at all times and implement lock out/tag out procedures when maintenance is being performed on the machineReport any unsafe condition or practices to the SupervisorPosition RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferredMust be able to read a rulerMust be able to use a computerPrevious machine operation is preferredPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands and work environment expectations described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
