Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated claims trainee to join our team. After initial in-person training, you may have flexible work-from-home time as defined by leadership.

The role handles entry-level insurance claims under close supervision, requiring study of policies and adherence to procedures while developing negotiation and loss-adjustment skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently.
• Above-average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.
• Ability to deal with diverse groups and individuals.
• Ability to read and understand financial documents.
• Ability to drive and possess a valid driver license.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims.
• Study policies to develop foundational knowledge of company products.
• Learn and comply with company claim handling procedures.
• Develop entry-level claim negotiation and settlement skills.
• Meet claimants, legal counsel, and third-parties to discuss claims.
• Develop skills in estimating and using computer-based loss adjustment programs.
• Study and obtain required adjuster licenses within deadlines.

This job handles entry-level insurance claims under close supervision through the life-cycle of a claim including but not limited to: investigation, evaluation, and claim resolution. This job provides service to agents, insureds, and others to ensure claims resolve accurately and timely.
