Job description

2-5 years minimum collision auto body repair experience required

The Auto Body Technician’s primary responsibility includes providing an exceptional customer experience through the meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre-accident condition. The Auto Body Technician disassembles, repairs, and reassembles vehicles while playing a pivotal role in our company’s promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The Auto Body Technician works in alignment with all team members to achieve the repair facility's KPIs and is committed to being a dedicated Brand Ambassador of The Boyd Group.

Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
  2. Plan the repair work necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers. Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair sections of a vehicle.
  3. Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible.
  4. Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
  5. Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts. Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
  6. Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
  7. Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place and prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent.
  8. Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience Required

High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.

Required Skills/Abilities

  1. Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers within an auto body shop.
  3. Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
  4. Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.

Other Requirements

  1. Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  3. Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
  4. Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Pay ranges starting from $80,000 to $120,000 + depending on experience and location
