Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Repair and refinish automotive vehicle bodies and straighten vehicle frames.
2. Adjust or align headlights, wheels, and brake systems.
3. Apply heat to plastic panels using hot-air welding guns or immersion in hot water, then press the softened panels back into shape by hand.
4. Chain or clamp frames and sections to alignment machines that use hydraulic pressure to align damaged components.
5. Clean work areas using air hoses to remove damaged material and fiberglass strips.
6. Cut and tape plastic separating film to outside repair areas to prevent damage, then remove tape and wash surfaces after repairs.
7. File, grind, sand, and smooth repaired surfaces with power and hand tools.
8. Fill small dents with plastic or solder.
9. Fit and secure windows, vinyl roofs, and metal trim using caulking guns, adhesive brushes, and mallets.
10. Fit and weld replacement parts, grind down welds to smoothness.
11. Follow supervisor instructions regarding parts restoration or replacement and estimated job time.
12. Inspect repaired vehicles for proper function, appearance, and alignment; test drive to ensure quality.
13. Mix resins and hardeners for restoring damaged areas.
14. Remove dents using dolly blocks and hammers.
15. Prime and paint repaired surfaces with spray guns and sanders.
16. Consult with customers about custom modifications.
17. Remove damaged panels and identify plastic types.
18. Use metal-cutting guns, grinders, and wrenches to remove damaged sections and install replacements.
19. Remove small pits and dimples in body metal.
20. Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical components, and trim for access.
21. Replace damaged glass.
22. Review damage reports, prepare or review estimates, and plan repairs.
23. Sand and mask areas for painting, apply fiberglass layers over repair areas.
24. Inspect vehicles post-repair for quality and test drive for proper handling.
25. Additional experience in restoration of classic/muscle cars and late model collision repair is required.
