Responsible for completing high-quality auto body repairs assigned in the shortest time possible while ensuring exceptional service to our customers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform duties associated with auto body repair including but not limited to disassembly; removal of auto equipment for repair access; completing all repairs by hammering, filing, filling, grinding, welding, sanding, etc.; and reassembly ensuring industry and JHCC standards are met.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g. welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.)
- Follow protocols provided for repairs.
- Strong, consistent attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to be able to read, write and communicate.
- Positive, can-do attitude with the desire to work in a team setting
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of performing high-quality repairs using up-to-date methods.
- Ability to use all power tools required to perform position.
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions related to repairs, ask follow-up questions and communicate clearly any obstacles with meeting deadlines and/or standards.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of auto body experience required.
- Experience with extensive body repairs including metal pulling, roof repair, stud welding, rocker panels, and multiple panel repairs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to bend, kneel, and/or squat to perform tasks
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 10 pounds
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of up to 100 pounds
- Ability to twist and turn
- Ability to climb steps (e.g., frame machine)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform overhead work (e.g., installing a hood on a vehicle, using frame machine, retrieving parts)
- Ability to perform tasks while laying on back
- Ability to accurately identify all vehicle parts and repair needs
- Ability to perform or learn to disassemble, repair parts, replace parts, and align frame damage, etc.
- Availability and ability to attend or complete training classes or webinars on all repair tools, equipment, and methods: Examples include courses to become certified to repair collision damage: I-Car, A/C, OEM, etc.
- Ability to work with tools/equipment properly and safely: welder, laser measuring system, frame machine, clamps, A/C machine, dent puller
- Proper maintenance and use of all safety equipment as per standards (e.g., eye protection, ear protection, gloves, respirator, welding helmet, etc.)
- Ability to take direction and perform tasks efficiently and orderly
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of work area, free of safety hazards
- Maintain all equipment provided for collision repairs
