PRIMARY FUNCTION: The estimator trainee is an entry level position designed to develop an estimator. Our goal is to match a motivated individual with a fast paced, exciting and rewarding career path. An estimator is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure adequate sales volume, provide a reasonable department operating profit, and maintain certain customer satisfaction standards while controlling expenses. The estimator works with the shop manager to direct the activities of employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels, and maintaining quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/DUTIES:

• Strong work ethic is a must
• Must be able to multi-task and retain large amounts of information
• Accurately document repairs, procedures and communication by use of photo documentation and notes in the estimating software
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with several insurance adjusters.
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
• Works with customer and Body Shop Technician to identify required repair work
• Schedules appointments with customer and offers additional services and repairs
• Computes cost of replacement parts and labor to restore vehicle to condition specified by customer
• Enters itemized estimate on repair order and explains estimate to customer
• Keeps customer informed and updated throughout the repairs
• Maintains Customer Satisfaction score at or above designated standards
• Must be familiar with and able to adhere to various insurance guidelines

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent, Technical or Trade school degree
• Must work toward having a PA State Appraiser License within the first 180 days of employment
• Must complete I-CAR training provided by the shop and reach a completed pro-level 1 standing within the first 180 days of employment
• Learn insurance processes.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft office
• Ability to learn how multiple computer programs operate
• Ability to type is beneficial
• Must maintain a valid state driver’s license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping to complete or inspect repairs.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
