Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The estimator trainee is an entry-level position designed to develop an estimator. Our goal is to match a motivated individual with a fast-paced, exciting, and rewarding career path. An estimator is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers, and other sources to assure adequate sales volume, provide a reasonable department operating profit, and maintain customer satisfaction standards while controlling expenses. The estimator works with the shop manager to direct the activities of employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules, productivity levels, and maintaining quality standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/DUTIES:
  • Strong work ethic is essential.
  • Ability to multi-task and retain large amounts of information.
  • Accurately document repairs, procedures, and communication via photo documentation and notes in estimating software.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with insurance adjusters and customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Coordinate with customers and Body Shop Technicians to identify required repairs.
  • Schedule appointments and offer additional services and repairs.
  • Compute costs of replacement parts and labor to restore vehicles according to customer specifications.
  • Enter itemized estimates on repair orders and explain estimates to customers.
  • Keep customers informed and updated throughout repairs.
  • Maintain Customer Satisfaction scores at or above standards.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to various insurance guidelines.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school degree preferred.
  • Work toward obtaining a PA State Appraiser License within the first 180 days of employment.
  • Complete I-CAR training provided by the shop and achieve Pro-Level 1 standing within 180 days.
  • Learn insurance processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn multiple computer programs.
  • Typing skills are beneficial.
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Extended periods of kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to complete or inspect repairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
