Job summary

York City School District is seeking an Autistic Support Teacher to implement intensive instructional models using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). You will plan instruction, adapt curricula for students with IEPs, and act as the case manager ensuring Chapter 14 paperwork compliance.

The role involves planning targeted academic and non-academic instruction, coordinating with educators and staff, and maintaining ongoing parent communication to support student progress.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate with Special Education required.
• Level II instruction certification preferred.
• Highly Qualified in mid-level core subjects preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
• Knowledge of best practices in instruction.
• Act 34, Act 151, FBI Clearances required (self-paid).
• Act 126 & Act 71 Certifications.
• Drug Screening (self-paid).
• Letter of Interest, Resume and Application on District website.

Responsibilities

• Complies with timelines, laws and regulations relating to District, State and Federal policies and procedures.
• Develops timely and compliant IEPs for eligible students.
• Plans and implements academic instruction for students with communication, social and behavioral challenges using evidence-based methods.
• Plans and implements non-academic instruction in social, toileting and community-based areas.
• Understands and completes FBAs and PBSPs.
• Collects and shares student progress on goals, accommodations, service time and discipline.
• Collaborates with service providers, General Education Teachers and staff for evaluation processes.
• Differentiates instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Provides support to General Education teachers.
• Provides direction to Paraprofessional staff in Autistic Support classrooms.
• Develops and implements Behavior Support Plans.
• Employs CPI techniques and safe intervention methods.
• Maintains routine contact with parents/guardians.
• Participates in meetings and professional development to improve instructional practices.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal or District leadership.
