Job summary

Penn Hills School District is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher – Autistic Support for Grades K-2. The role requires PA certification in Special Education and strong autism knowledge, with responsibilities in IEP development and data-driven instruction.

The teacher will collaborate with administrators, parents, and support staff to deliver customized instruction, implement Positive Behavior Interventions, and maintain compliant records.

Qualifications

• Valid PA certification in Special Education and identified content areas, required.
• Knowledge of Autism with relation to communication and social behaviors.
• Ability to recognize distress/need in a student who is non-verbal.
• Ability to modify curriculum materials including core curriculum and prevocational curriculum.
• Strong working knowledge of behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and write reevaluation reports based on assessments, data collection, and records review.
• Develop and deliver an appropriate IEP for students.
• Evaluate students' academic performance, behavior and social progress toward IEP goals through data collection, student work and observation.
• Prepare progress reports, report cards and other mandated paperwork within established timelines.
• Maintain accurate special education paperwork, data, and student records in compliance with regulations and guidelines.
• Collaborate with parents, education personnel and other service providers to develop and implement IEPs.
