Job summary

Inova Kellar Center Day School at Inova Health System is seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder on the SOL track for their diploma. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 7:45 a.m.

– 4:00 p.m., offering a stable, supportive environment where you can make a meaningful impact daily. You will establish and maintain a therapeutic learning environment, monitor IEPs, and document progress for parents and the LEA, while planning developmentally

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• One year of professional experience in a school setting
• Collegiate Professional License or provisional license within 6 months (VA)
• BLS/CPR certification within 3 months
• Active license or eligibility to obtain Virginia teaching licensure

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains a therapeutic/pro-social learning environment.
• Reviews and revises IEPs as needed and prepares progress reports for parents/LEA.
• Completes progress documentation such as report cards and IEP progress reports.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate daily lessons aligned with IEP goals and Virginia standards.
• Participates in staff/committee meetings and uses evidence-based strategies to meet student needs.
