Job summary

Benhaven, Inc. seeks an Instructional Assistant to support individuals with autism in developing work maturity and life skills for employment. The role involves AM and PM transportation using a Benhaven vehicle, on-site job coaching, and teaching workplace readiness across community sites.

The position reports to the Supervisor/Director and requires collaboration with supervisors and partners. High School Diploma required; CPR/PMT certifications preferred, with training provided by Benhaven.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle for community transportation.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.
• Experience implementing behavior support plans and teaching strategies.
• Ability to assist with personal hygiene and toileting when needed.
• Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide AM & PM transportation in a Benhaven Van.
• Provide on-site job coaching and employment support at community job and volunteer sites.
• Teach and reinforce workplace readiness, social skills, and daily living skills.
• Monitor performance, give feedback, and provide prompts.
• Implement teaching strategies, skill-building programs, and behavioral protocols.
• Follow individualized behavior support plans.
• Complete data collection and documentation accurately and on time.
• Model appropriate workplace behavior and hold individuals to consistent expectations.
• Maintain professionalism across diverse environments (job sites, volunteer programs, college campuses, and Benhaven facilities).
• Collaborate with supervisors, team members, employers, and community partners.
