Job summary

Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) in Kalamazoo, Michigan is seeking a Special Education Teacher-Autism with KRESA Transition Services. The essential responsibilities include planning curriculum, direct instruction, collaboration with parents and staff, and developing individual education programs to support students toward goals.

The 11-month, 17-grade position requires a Bachelor’s degree with Autism endorsement (K-12 Michigan).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
• Special education endorsement in Autism (K-12 Michigan Certification) or willingness to obtain the endorsement.
• Tuition reimbursement is available to support candidates pursuing required endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials according to achievement levels of students
• Provides direct instruction and supervision of students within school/community setting
• Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop individual educational programs
• Attends MET, IEPT and/or IFSP meetings
• Instructs students in academic subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques
• Instructs students in daily living skills required for independent living and economic self-sufficiency
• Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on progress of students
• Meets with parents to provide support and guidance in using community resources
• Administers and interprets results of ability and achievement tests
• Regular and consistent attendance
• Other duties as assigned
