Job summary

Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is seeking a Special Education Teacher-Autism for Transition Services in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This 11-month position (job grade 17) offers an annual pay range of $52,819.00 to $116,506.00, with benefits including health insurance, PTO, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university.
• Special education endorsement in Autism (K-12 Michigan Certification; Autistic Impaired Endorsement) or willingness to obtain endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials according to achievement levels of students
• Provides direct instruction and supervision of students within school/community setting
• Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop individual educational programs for students with different learning abilities
• Attends MET, IEPT and/or IFSP meetings
• Instructs students in academic subjects using multisensory strategies and varied teaching techniques
• Instructs students in daily living skills for independent living and economic self-sufficiency
• Observes, evaluates, and prepares reports on progress of students
• Meets with parents to provide support and guidance using community resources
• Administers and interprets results of ability and achievement tests
• Regular and consistent attendance
• Other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or University
