Job summary

The Aide employed for the purpose of working within the special education program may be required to ride the bus conveying such youngsters and to assist with their needs in board and disembarking from the bus as well as assisting the teacher with classroom instruction, assisting children with toileting needs, lifting physically handicapped children as needed and assisting in the administration of emergency first aid care.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and perform basic math.
• Medical training to follow physician/nurse instructions.
• Able to assist with mobility and patient care as required.

Responsibilities

• Ride bus with students and assist with boarding/alighting.
• Assist teacher with classroom instruction and activities.
• Aid children with toileting needs and physical support when needed.
• Perform or assist in first aid and emergency procedures as directed by nurse.
