Job summary

Kanawha County Public Schools seeks an Aide II/III/IV, Autism Mentor or Paraprofessional for the 2026-27 school year. The aide supports teachers in instruction, works with students one-on-one or in small groups, and assists with bus supervision to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators and the public.
Ability to work with children and groups to support academics and behavior management.
Must meet WV state requirements including background checks and competency testing.
Demonstrated ability to follow safety rules and use PPE as required.

Responsibilities

Maintain neat and orderly work areas and assist with planning and distribution of classroom materials.
Provide individualized and small-group instruction to reinforce taught skills.
Supervise students on buses and ensure safe, orderly transport.
Assist teachers in supervision of children in classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, and on bus.
Attend in-services and complete required training including CPR and First Aid.
