Job description

Overview

A caregiver in this position works days, from 8:00am—5:00pm.

Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Autism, an innovative and unique education resource for children with autism spectrum disorders, offers community-based intervention and outreach services, trains medical and educational professionals and conducts ongoing autism research. Cleveland Clinic's Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation is looking for multiple Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I or II. Placement will be determined based upon experience and requirements outlined below. Our facilities are dedicated to treatment, education, and research for children, adolescents, young adults, and families dealing with autism spectrum disorders. The Lerner School is a full year center-based program that utilizes the principles of ABA. The school serves students diagnosed with autism aged 2-22.

Responsibilities
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Acquire baseline data and implement approved programs using behavioral technology appropriately, neutrally, and consistently.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Follow the prompting hierarchy.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Utilize SDs that are clear, concise, and consistent.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Consistently redirect challenging behavior when appropriate and maintain neutrality when working through challenging behavior.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Correctly implement PTT techniques and make appropriate changes to student's curriculum.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Maintain professional communication (written and verbal) with families and co-workers.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Follow student's daily schedule and create monthly summaries and progress reports.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Create and prepare materials. Implements student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Identify programs that require troubleshooting.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I: Meet with coordinating teacher to choose next targets.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician II: Implement discrete trial teaching procedures across a variety of students and functioning levels; utilizes prompt fading, naturalistic teaching, shaping, and chaining procedures; utilizes leader-prompter model and group reinforcement during small group instruction.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician II: Select appropriate task analyses and teaching targets based on student's goals/objectives; monitor, analyze and troubleshoot programs; align students' curriculum to work in a dyad; prepare lesson plans incorporating Ohio academic content standards and appropriate materials.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician II: Collect, analyze, and maintain behavior data; implement differential reinforcement procedures; apply schedules of reinforcement; utilize functional communication teaching.
  • Autism Classroom Behavior Technician II: Act as a mentor for new staff; develops graphs for parent communication; attends home visits; assists with student transitions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • OR High School diploma/GED and two years of relevant experience (which includes at least three months of ABA experience for CBT I and six months for CBT II)
  • Educational Aide Permit (EAP) through the Ohio Department of Education: permit must be pending prior to start date and received within 30-days of hire; or Ohio Teaching License (OTC).
  • Professional Crisis Management (PCM) training through Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA) or PIVOT PCM must be successfully passed within the first 6-months of employment and successfully recertified annually.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire. Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED (Heartsaver Total)
  • Six months of experience working with children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis or a Teaching License in related area plus three months of experience working with children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis (CBT II).
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students.
  • Manual and finger dexterity.
  • Eye-hand coordination.
  • Physically able to manage students of varying weight and sizes.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range

Minimum Annual Salary: $34,260.00

Maximum Annual Salary: $49,095.00

A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
