Job summary

BSA Health System in Amarillo, TX, seeks a day shift, full-time Diagnostic Clinic Authorization Specialist to manage prior authorizations and patient communications. You will process initial and re-authorizations, enter documents into the EHR, and inform patients about appointments and financial responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates and processes prior authorizations as requested by providers.
• Obtains and processes initial and re-authorizations as required by insurers.
• Notifies patients of appointments and provides required instructions.
• Enters prior authorization documentation into the electronic health record.
• Communicates patient financial responsibility for services to patients and guarantors.
• Creates and provides cost estimates for scheduled services and procedures.
• Collects deposits, copayments, deductibles, and other payments.
• Performs additional prior authorization responsibilities and clerical work as needed.

Responsibilities

• The prior authorization specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing prior authorizations as requested by providers.
• Obtains and processes initial prior authorizations and re-authoriza t ions as required by insurance providers.
• Notifies patient of appointments and gives any instructions required for appointment.
• Enters insurance prior authorization documentation into the electronic health record.
• Communicate s patient financial responsibility for healthcare services to patients and guarantors.
• Create and provide cost estimates for scheduled services and procedures.
• Collect deposits, copayments, deductibles, and other patient payments.
• Performs additional prior authorization responsibilities and clerical work as needed within the clinic .

Qualifications

Job Requirements :

• High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.
• Prio r experience in a customer service role.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Prior scheduling or prior authorization experience.
