MemorialCare in Long Beach, CA, seeks an Authorization Coordinator for the Cardiac Surgery - GRP team. This on-site role focuses on obtaining authorizations for orders, timely submissions, and accurate documentation to support patient care and reimbursement.
The candidate should have at least one year in health care, be proficient in MS Word and Outlook, and ideally have Medical Assistant experience. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, with a commitment to quality patient service.

The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for obtaining authorization for all applicable orders utilizing the five (5) Simply Better steps with every patient and team member interaction.
Review authorization queue for applicable orders
Verify and comply with payer contractual authorization requirements
Submit authorization request timely and efficiently, ensuring proper documentation is included for review
Utilize website portal, and electronic options to submit authorization requests
Work with PBS Teams to resolve auth related issues.
Maintain and follow up on authorization time lines specific to patient care and reimbursement.
Utilize EPIC workflows and report out on workflow changes as well as payer authorization updates.
Work with management to identify payer trends or potential issues
Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills in the performance of work assignments and duties
Other duties as assigned

Must have one year minimum in working in the health care field
Proficient computer skills (MS Word and Outlook)
Medical Assistant experience preferred
Knowledge of medical terminology, HCPCS, ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
