A family in Austin is seeking a live-in mentor for their 15-year-old son, a student-athlete. The role involves providing emotional support, transportation, and assistance with homework in a flexible schedule. Ideal candidates are passionate about sports and education.
AUSTIN, TX (LOCAL CANDIDATES PREFERRED) – Wonderful parents based in California seek a dependable, emotionally intelligent role model to support their 15-year-old son, a focused and talented student-athlete attending a professional soccer academy in Austin. This is a unique live-in opportunity based in a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in the desirable Northwest Hills/Steiner Ranch area, with amenities including a pool, gym, game room, and access to excellent shopping and hiking.
The role requires live-in support Monday through Thursday (private bedroom, private bathroom 4 days/week). While caregivers are welcome to remain in residence over the weekends, they will not be responsible for any duties from Thursday evening through Sunday evening when the parents rotate in.
The ideal candidate will be Austin-based or familiar with the area, though in-state candidates will be considered for the right fit. The weekly schedule runs Monday–Thursday, 4pm–10pm (24 hours/week), with responsibilities including transporting the teen to and from soccer training (25–30 minutes away), supporting homework, helping with light meal prep, and managing laundry. A vehicle is provided Monday-Thursday, with shared access on weekends.
Their son is exceptionally self-motivated and manages a demanding schedule with maturity, but the family is seeking someone who can offer the emotional steadiness and encouragement that a young athlete under pressure needs. More than just a caretaker, they are looking for a dynamic role model. Someone who shares a passion for sports, possibly a former student-athlete or D1 competitor, and can relate to the rigors and isolation of athletic pursuit is a plus! This would be a fantastic opportunity for a graduate student, preschool teacher, coach, or educator who thrives in a mentorship role and is looking for a flexible schedule working late afternoon/evening hours 4 days/week.
Pay is $25–$35/hour, with paid holidays and sick days included. The anticipated start date is early August, though the family is flexible for the right candidate.
This role is about being a trusted adult, mentor, and consistent presence for a driven teen navigating a high-performance path. Dependability, relatability, and a strong sense of emotional awareness are key.
