H-E-B Restaurant is seeking an Order Taker/Runner to provide friendly guest service by taking orders, preparing drinks, delivering food, and keeping the dining area and patio clean. You will assist with menu items and beverage selections (including alcoholic drinks), process transactions accurately, upsell where appropriate, and help with catering orders when needed.

Applicants must be 18+, have 1+ year in customer service, POS experience preferred, and complete Alcohol Seller Training / Cash

Job Summary:

As an Order Taker/Runner, you'll play a key role in the overall H-E-B Restaurant guest experience by providing positive and memorable service while you take guest orders, prepare drinks, deliver food, and maintain cleanliness of the dining area and patio.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Customer Service / Sales:

• Builds strong relationships with customers in varying situations
• Takes orders from customers; assists with menu / beverage selections, including alcoholic beverages
• Provides detailed information on menu items and specials, and beer and wine
• Serves food, drink, and products to guests
• Processes cash, check, debit, and credit transactions accurately and quickly
• Uses suggestive selling techniques / merchandises effectively to meet guest needs and build department sales
• Interacts positively with customers in person, on the phone, or through technology
• Assists with catering orders as needed
• Addresses complaints; resolves problems in a way that builds relationships
• Models teamwork to ensure a great guest experience
• Prepares, packages, merchandises product
• Assists in technical areas as needed

Compliance / Food Safety / Sanitation:

• Ensures compliance with TABC regulations
• Ensures compliance with department and Store standard operating procedures
• Buses / cleans tables; performs deep clean of dining, ordering, bar areas, as needed
• Maintains beverage station and bar areas
• Maintains sanitation in food / beverage prep areas and display cases
• Properly handles, operates, and maintains equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Key Requirements:

Age Requirement:

• 18+

Work Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in customer service
• Experience in restaurant Point of Sale (POS) systems (preferred)

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Working understanding of nutrition values and ingredients
• Advanced communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

Licenses/Certifications:

• Completion of Alcohol Seller Training / Cash Handling training - upon hire

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Function in a fast-paced, retail environment
• Work extended hours and / or rotating schedules
