Job summary

The Auraria Campus in downtown Denver seeks a Journeyman level painter to maintain interior and exterior surfaces, seal masonry, varnish, and refinish wood while coordinating repairs with the Paint Shop Supervisor.

You will review daily work orders, prepare surfaces, apply finishes, and manage painting projects with campus schedules, ensuring minimal disruption to classrooms and operations. A valid Colorado driver's license and two years of trade experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience performing skilled painting, building maintenance, facilities maintenance or a closely related trade involving surface preparation, application of finishes, and repair of interior and exterior building surfaces.
  • Must possess a valid unencumbered Colorado driver's license at the time of application.

Description Of Job

This position exists to perform Journeyman level painting, taping, and protective coatings on equipment, sealing masonry, varnishing, refinishing wood, and painting both interior and exterior surfaces. Coordinate task list/schedule of repairs or enhancements needed in each space to maintain quality standards for each space.

Essential Job Functions
  • Reviews and prioritizes daily work orders through the TMA system.
  • Performs skilled painting and maintenance repairs on campus buildings, surfaces, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Prepares surfaces and applies various finishes using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Completes painting projects for existing facilities, remodels, and new construction.
  • uses hand and power tools, ladders, and scaffolding to safely perform assigned work.
Planning, Scheduling and Customer Service
  • Coordinates facility maintenance activities with the Paint Shop Supervisor.
  • Plans and schedules painting projects to minimize disruptions to campus operations.
  • Communicates with affected customers and departments to coordinate work schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
Purchasing and Organizing
  • Prepares Purchase Requests for paint, materials, and services
  • Takes delivery of scheduled jobs around campus activities and classroom schedules.
Emergency Response, Special Events and Other Duties
  • Performs assigned maintenance and support duties as directed by supervisors and leadership.
  • Assists with snow removal, emergency cleanups, and Paint Shop operations as needed.
  • Responds to after-hours emergency call-back requests and urgent maintenance needs.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of professional experience performing skilled painting, building maintenance, facilities maintenance or a closely related trade involving surface preparation, application of finishes, and repair of interior and exterior building surfaces. OR A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship training, and/or experience in painting, construction, facilities maintenance, or a related trade equal to two (2) years.
  • Must possess a valid unencumbered Colorado driver's license at the time of application.

Conditions Of Employment
  • Must be a state of Colorado resident.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
  • This person selected for this position must maintain their ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must maintain a valid unencumbered driver's license.

  • Must pass a physical examination conducted by a licensed health care provider to determine the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
