Suffolk County Government is hiring an Auditor Trainee. You will assist in audits, examine accounting records for validity, verify transactions, and reconcile accounts, leading to permanent competitive status as an Auditor after one year of service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from a college with federally authorized accreditation or registration by NY State, plus at least 24 credit hours in Accounting.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing audit reports and making recommendations for changes and improvements in accordance with findings.
• Examines accounting records to assure validity and legality of transactions.
• Verifies accuracy of recorded transactions and reconciles accounts.
• Verifies vouchers, purchase orders and inventories.
• Corrects errors and deviations from regular procedures.
• Prepares work papers and reports of audit findings.
