Auditor Supervisor

Department of Revenue

Starting Salary: $66,882.72 (Semi-monthly: $2,786.78)

This is a supervisory position accountable for overseeing the work of professional-level auditors who audit contracted services for the Department and external organizations. Assignments can also include program and financial auditing of internal operations and processes for the Department of Revenue. The supervisor is also responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management.

DUTIES PERFORMED TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT’S VISION:

• Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the activities of an audit team conducting program and financial audits of the internal operations of a state agency and/or external organizations providing contracted services to the state agency or its clients; or performs independent work of a comparable level.
• Assists in the development audit plans and guidelines to include analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, and approving proposed field audits, field operations and procedures, contracts, complex accounting systems, and field reports pertaining to internal audits of program operations and external audits of contracting organizations.
• Establish work priorities in order to determine assignment of work.
• Consults with subordinates to resolve technical problems relating to field procedures and auditing techniques and ensure that priority projects proceed on schedule.
• Monitors the implementation, execution, and effectiveness of corrective actions identified in audits.
• Exercises considerable independence and initiative in the performance of assignments within established policies and procedures; receives general supervision from the Auditor Manager.
• Assists in the development in procedures or policies in order to provide information or respond to changes in operations.
• Interpret applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations to agency personnel, contractors, and external organizations.
• Performs other related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration, or a related business area.
• 3-5 years of professional auditing experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
• Must be willing to travel periodically statewide, including overnight travel.
• Good communication, interpersonal skills, and writing skills are essential.
• Computer experience required, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Working knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards and procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the bureau and other department divisions.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities on a concurrent basis to meet established deadlines.
