Job description

The Auditor 1/Trainee performs systematic examinations and appraisals of the New York Teachers' Retirement System's accounting records and operations to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and sound internal controls. The role involves conducting audit research, establishing audit scope, performing tests and evaluations, resolving audit problems, and preparing audit reports. This is a full-time position based in Albany, NY, working Monday through Friday with telecommuting allowed.

Key qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation; or bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting/auditing/taxation courses plus two years of professional auditing experience
• Critical thinking and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively across organizational levels
